Lead Minister

"Preach the Word and love the people!"  That advice from a mentor has been my aim for 30 years serving as the Lead Minister of WHCC.  As a people-builder, I love to make disciples who make disciples!  The immensity of what God calls us to be and do as a church challenges me daily.  Serving together we will meet the challenges as the Lord enables us.  I have loved Jesus all my life and I am compelled to pour it out for Him.  I just want everyone to know Jesus.

I am so blessed to walk my journey with Brenda as my wife.  She completes me.  Our children, Caleb and Abby, bring us such joy as they serve the Lord in the unique ways God has designed them.  For pleasure I enjoy a little golf, travel, movies, the Reds, storytelling, our dog Wookie, and family time.  I often crave pie!  I’m typically refreshed and refueled by being with people.  If we get a chance to sit down and chat, I would love to hear your story!

Two of my favorite verses are found in Colossians 3. The first verse is located in verse 17: "And whatever you do…" I love the way it starts out. "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." In other words, whatever you do, do something that will bring glory and honor go God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. The second verse, found in verse 23, starts out the same way! "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." In other words, whatever you do, do your very best because you are doing this for the Lord, and the Lord deserves nothing but the very best! So whenever I do anything, I do it to bring glory and honor to God, and I do my very best for Him. I have discovered that when I do this, He will take it beyond anything I can ever imagine. I would like to share with you one way He has done this in my life.

I was born and raised on a farm in Wilmington, Ohio, but have spent the majority of my life in Cincinnati, Ohio.  I graduated from Cincinnati Christian University with two degrees and have had ministries in Canton, Ohio; Erlanger, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio.  I have two brothers that are also in the ministry.  One of those brothers is my identical twin.

Right now, I am the associate minister at the Western Hills Church of Christ, located in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am mainly in charge of the youth and education, but I do some work in missions and outreach. It is a great church, and I have been with that church since June 1987. Many of the kids there have grown up with me being the only youth minister they have known. The ministry with Western Hills Church has been a great inspiration to my life.

Worship Minister

Brenda Lang

As long as I can remember, I have been singing with joy.  My mom would give me an aluminum pie pan to use as my tamborine when I was a little girl.  I sang in school, at church, and even walking down the street. I learned to play piano from my favorite music teacher, my mom.  I remember sitting on the church pew watching in awe as my mom played piano for the worship services. Many times I would sit beside her and turn pages while she accompanied the choir.

God took that love of singing on a journey of academic study, performing, and teaching.  I have loved every opportunity He has given me to use my passion for music to bring joy to others. Worship has always been at the center.

My heart for Worship is simply this: To engage with God from the heart.   What greater purpose do we have in life than to glorify our Maker? It is my heart’s desire for people to develop a hunger for worship and to live a lifestyle of worship.

I am passionate about true, honest worship.  It’s never about you or how well you can sing – it’s always about Jesus and who He is. My hope is to lead people to worship more passionately and go deeper in their relationship with Jesus than they have before. The fact that I get to point people to Him through songs is a humbling and joyful honor.

Administrative Assistant

Judy Pratt

Office@theWHCC.com

Renewing friendships and developing new skills are part of my transition as the Administrative Assistant at Western Hills Church of Christ, starting June 7, 2021. I've lived and worked on Cincinnati's West Side for many years, learning and transitioning through various positions at Cincinnati Christian University. God has been working in mighty ways in providing this opportunity now to serve alongside Dan Lang and other Ministry staff to assist in lightening the burden of daily operations here at WHCC! Change can be hard at times, but having been a previous member here at WHCC, this feels more like coming home! Communication will be a priority, so if you have any questions about church events and services, feel free to email or call the church office, and I'll gladly work with you to help out!
